Ford Mondeo Mk4 (2007-2014) – Fuse Box Diagrams and Relays (European Models)

Ford Mondeo Mk4 (2007-2014), European version uses fuse and relay boxes in the passenger compartment, engine compartment and luggage area. The main passenger-compartment layouts differ: the early arrangement uses positions F1-F24, while another Mk4 arrangement uses F1-F28. Choose the appropriate diagram by comparing the actual carrier, build date, engine and vehicle equipment.

This guide keeps both complete fuse-box configurations, including alternative engine-specific amperage values, unused positions, high-current protection and body-style differences. Do not combine the two cabin layouts: F7 (20 A) supplies the cigarette lighter in the early layout, but F7 (7.5 A) serves the steering wheel module in the later layout. The later cigarette lighter is normally F19 (15 A).

Where are the fuse boxes in Ford Mondeo Mk4?

Passenger compartment: the central fuse panel is under the dashboard in the glovebox area. Open the glovebox, release the retaining catches and lower it as described in the Ford owner’s manual. Left- and right-hand-drive versions can have different access details. Use the diagram and the fuse carrier lettering rather than assuming an identical cover on every market.

Engine bay: the main distribution box sits near the battery under a latching cover. Turn off the ignition before opening it. After checking, securely close the cover to protect the electrical connections from moisture.

Luggage compartment: remove or fold back the appropriate side trim access cover. The saloon / hatchback and estate have different rear carrier layouts; on an estate, compare the FA, FB and FC sections with the dedicated estate diagram below.

Early Mondeo Mk4 fuse arrangement: 1 February 2007 to 3 February 2008

The two documented subperiods, 1 February-19 August 2007 and 20 August 2007-3 February 2008, have matching listings for the three main fuse carriers. Both are retained under the early layout below. Engine-specific rows remain separate where the same slot protects different circuits.

The early passenger carrier includes the 20 A cigarette lighter fuse at F7. It also protects lighting, the remote-control receiver, various driving-assistance modules and the roof panel.

Engine compartment fuse box – early layout

Powertrain and cooling-system protection vary by engine. In particular, F3 may serve a twin cooling fan or electrohydraulic steering depending on the installed powertrain. The complete chart gives separate ratings for such alternatives rather than replacing them with one generic value.

Second Mondeo Mk4 fuse arrangement – F1-F28 passenger carrier

Another Ford Mondeo Mk4 configuration is documented with a 28-position cabin fuse panel. Here the steering module is protected by F7 (7.5 A) and the cigarette lighter by F19 (15 A). Do not substitute the earlier F7 20 A rating, even though both are Mondeo Mk4 models.

Engine compartment fuse box – second layout

This arrangement retains several engine-dependent positions, including alternative protection for the cooling fan and EHPAS steering. Where Ford documentation identifies the factory fuse colour, the colour is also noted in the last column. Matching the fuse number and amperage remains essential.

Which Mondeo Mk4 fuse should be checked?

Cigarette lighter or 12 V socket dead: first identify the passenger fuse panel. The early F1-F24 version uses F7 (20 A), while the second F1-F28 version uses F19 (15 A). Remove any accessory from the socket before testing the circuit.

Windscreen wipers stopped: use the correct engine-bay and cabin charts for the vehicle. If the fuse is intact, inspect the wiper motor, mechanical linkage and relevant control module. If the problem appeared in freezing weather, verify the blades are not frozen to the glass.

Engine does not start: check battery condition first, then powertrain and starter protection for the installed engine and gearbox. Do not bridge relay contacts to bypass electrical protection.

Different rear fuse positions in an estate: estate luggage compartment access and some physical fuse-section arrangements differ from the four- and five-door bodies. An unused slot may be correct factory equipment, not a missing fuse.

Which manual applies? Compare the exact F1-F24 or F1-F28 passenger carrier, engine code, body style and production date. Where in doubt, the factory owner information and equipment-specific assignment for the vehicle take precedence. Never increase fuse amperage to avoid repeated failures.

More guides are available in the Ford fuse box diagrams section. The Mondeo Mk3 and Mk5 use different wiring arrangements and should not be treated as interchangeable.
