Ford Focus Mk1 (C170) was sold in Europe from 1998, and during its production run the engines, equipment and parts of the electrical system changed. The two most important fuse locations are the central fuse box inside the passenger compartment and the power distribution box in the engine bay. The tables below primarily cover European-market cars from 1998-2005; vehicles built for the United States and Canada may use different fuse ratings and assignments.

Where are the fuses in the Ford Focus Mk1?
The central fuse box is located on the driver’s side, in the lower part of the dashboard. Depending on the version, access is gained by lowering or removing the trim panel. The second fuse box is under the hood, on the left-hand side of the engine compartment. Always compare the numbering on the cover of your own vehicle with the tables below, because Ford used different assignments depending on model year, engine and market.
Passenger compartment fuse box – Europe
On European Focus Mk1 models, the passenger compartment fuse box mainly uses positions 30-63. Fuse 63 is mounted on the rear of the fuse panel. Engine compartment fuse box – Europe
The engine compartment fuse box supplies, among other systems, the main electrical circuits, engine management, ABS, headlights, cooling fans and air conditioning. On diesel models it also includes circuits for the glow plugs and auxiliary heating. Not every position is fitted on every engine version.

Differences between model years, engines and markets
There is no single fuse assignment that covers every Focus Mk1 sold worldwide. European fuse boxes include circuits for diesel engines, the heated windshield, daytime running lights and xenon headlights, and the exact arrangement depends on equipment. Cars built for the United States and Canada use different ratings and functions in a number of positions – including some ABS, low-beam headlight, cooling fan, radio and power outlet circuits. A North American diagram should therefore not be treated as a direct replacement for the European layout.
For late-production cars and the ST170 in particular, compare the table with the fuse-box cover fitted to the vehicle. The fuse and relay assignments above are intended for the Ford Focus Mk1 C170 and should not be automatically applied to later Focus generations.
