Opel Zafira A (1999-2005) – Fuse Box and Relay Diagrams

Opel Zafira A (1999-2005) has an earlier 41-position interior fuse holder and a later 50-position holder, with different accessory, rear wiper and heated-seat ratings. It also has a main high-current fuse block by the battery, multiple under-bonnet relay arrangements depending on engine code, and optional auxiliary heaters. The tables below preserve all 160 rows in eleven complete original tables, including free slots, alternative ratings and ten original illustrations. Verify the installed panel and production version rather than applying one schematic to every Zafira A.

Where are the Zafira A fuse boxes?

Switch off ignition. Passenger compartment: lower and remove the storage/access compartment in the lower driver-side dashboard to expose the fuse holder. Some right-hand-drive Vauxhall cars have a different trim arrangement. Engine compartment: locate the bolted high-current fuse block beside the battery; an additional relay holder is next to it. Heater equipment: certain diesels and cold-climate versions have separate heater fuses and relays.

Later passenger fuse box F1-F50

The later arrangement changes cigarette lighter F36 to 15 A, adds rear wiper F31 (20 A), separate heated-seat F37 and radio/navigation at F19, F21 or F34. Never replace a 15 A lighter fuse with a 20 A version merely because the early chart has that rating.

Main under-bonnet fuse block EF1-EF8

EF5 (60 A) protects the main ABS supply, EF7 (80 A) supplies the electrohydraulic steering pump, and EF4 (20-40 A) and EF8 (40 A) protect radiator fan circuitry. Main bolted fuse replacement requires the correct manufacturer’s service procedure.

Two separate engine relay layouts

The Z12XE, Z20LET and Z22SE installations have engine-dependent cooling and fuel-pump relay assignments, different from older X14XE, X16XEL, X16SZR, X18XE1 and X20XEV engines.

Auxiliary electric or fuel-fired heating

The electric heater option uses a separate F60 (110 A) fuse. An optional fuel-fired heater has F40 (20 A) for heater supply, F41 (1 A) for its timer and F42 (25 A) for blower relay supply.

Zafira A fuse box FAQ

Which fuse protects the cigarette lighter?

F36 in both versions, but 20 A in the earlier 41-slot box and 15 A in the later 50-slot box. Check the exact fitted holder.

Where is the power steering main fuse?

EF7 (80 A), with separate interior control protection at F23 (10 A).

Do all Zafira A engines have the same fan relays?

No. Engine code and air-conditioning equipment can change the under-bonnet relay positions.

Does this apply to Zafira B?

No. Use the separate Zafira B 2005-2014 guide for its type-A/type-B electrical layouts.

Replace every fuse with the exact factory-specified type and ampere value. Repeated failures need circuit diagnosis.
