The second-generation Opel Insignia B (2018-2019), offered as Grand Sport and Sports Tourer, uses two main fuse boxes: one in the front left of the engine compartment and one behind a side cover on the dashboard. This reference retains 99 numbered under-bonnet positions and 42 passenger-compartment positions from the manufacturer’s 2018 electrical system information.
Not every position is populated. Variants with adaptive or LED headlamps, diesel SCR/AdBlue, all-wheel drive and different comfort equipment may use different circuits. Individual ampere ratings are not given by the source table, so none are invented. The correct replacement rating must come from the actual installed fuse and vehicle-specific label.
Where are the Opel Insignia B fuse boxes?
Under the bonnet: the main fuse and relay distribution unit is toward the front left side of the engine compartment. Turn off the ignition, release the lid retaining clips and refit the cover fully to keep rainwater out.
Inside the cabin: left-hand-drive European cars have a removable dashboard side cover near the driver’s door. Right-hand-drive models can have the panel accessible through the passenger glovebox instead. Always identify the correct fuse-box diagram for your driving side, year and engine.

The original two schematic images are kept immediately above the 99-position table. Among the documented circuits are ABS, tailgate, front and rear heating, engine control, steering lock, radiator fan, LED headlights, diesel fuel heating and coolant pumps. Unused positions are preserved individually so numbering never shifts.

These are fuse position numbers, not amperage ratings. The manufacturer source does not establish universal values for this general table, and the LED headlamp, emission system and 4×4 positions may be absent on other versions.

The 42 interior positions include power windows, body control modules, climate control, radio, USB, wireless charging, seat controls, airbags, trailer equipment, OnStar, emergency calls and the luggage compartment outlet. Diesel SCR equipment is labelled separately.

Common Insignia B fuse questions: power socket, wipers, horn and starter
Boot 12 V power outlet: dashboard 26. Front windscreen wipers: engine-bay 16, while washer system uses engine 79. Horn: engine 78.
Heated rear window: engine-bay 12; heated exterior mirrors: engine 13. Heated steering wheel: engine 43 and cabin 14 on equipped vehicles.
Starter circuits: engine-bay 56 and 72, with engine control protection on 46, 75 and 81 depending on specification. A no-start fault also requires checking battery condition, connections and the starter circuit mechanically.
Lighting: left LED headlamp is documented at engine position 59, while right halogen high beam/right LED functions appear at position 69. Alternative headlight versions may have different protection. Read the fitted headlamp specification before diagnosis.
Insignia A, Insignia B and other Opel electrical systems
The earlier Insignia A (2014-2016) has another set of fuse positions and should not be used as a substitute for the second generation. The Opel GT 2007-2009 fuse guide covers a much older two-seat roadster with completely separate passenger and engine fuse numbering; its circuits are also not interchangeable.
For another recent European vehicle with an alternative fuse-box configuration, see the Peugeot 2008 II fuse box guide, noting that this is a different manufacturer’s electrical architecture.
Opel Insignia B 2018-2019 fuse box FAQ
Where is the passenger compartment fuse panel?
Behind the dashboard side cover on the driver’s side in left-hand-drive cars; the passenger glovebox area is used on some right-hand-drive versions.
Which position protects the boot 12 V socket?
Cabin position 26 in the documented 2018 Insignia B layout.
Which fuse controls the front wipers?
Engine compartment position 16; the washer system is listed at position 79.
Where is the radio fuse?
Cabin position 42, with separate USB/AUX and display circuits.
Why does the table not list amperages?
The original general fuse chart identifies positions and functions but does not provide universal ratings. Confirm the actual value with the vehicle-specific documentation and installed fuse.
