The Renault Megane IV (2016-2017) was sold as a hatchback, Grandtour estate and GrandCoupe. In these early fourth-generation models, the driver’s side passenger-compartment fuse holder is accessed behind a small cover. Additional high-current protection and relays are found in the engine compartment.
Important: the original Renault owner’s manual identifies the interior fuses by symbols shown on the fuse-cover legend rather than one universal numbered list. The following 18 symbol descriptions retain that approach. They do not invent individual fuse numbers or amperages, which must be read from the exact vehicle label and installed fuse.
Where is the Renault Megane IV fuse box?
The passenger-compartment panel is behind cover A on the driver’s side, in the lower dashboard. Turn off the ignition and the electrical devices, release the cover, and use the legend printed on its reverse to identify the correct fuse. The manufacturer supplies a fuse puller on the cover in certain models.

The figure shows where to access cover A, not a map assigning unique slot numbers. Fuse holder population can vary with equipment and engine.
Renault Megane IV – 18 fuse symbols and their meaning
Use the pictogram on the actual panel label to match a system. The first column is a written description of its icon; it is not a fabricated slot number or a substitute for the printed vehicle legend. The unused symbols must not be assumed to authorise inserting replacement fuses.

|---|---|---|
| Windscreen washer symbol | Front windscreen washer system | Supplies the washer fluid pump for the front windscreen |
| Crossed-out position symbol 1 | Unused position | No protected consumer assigned in this version |
| Cigarette lighter symbol | Cigarette lighter and 12 V sockets | Front socket and second-row 12 V outlets, depending on equipment |
| Crossed-out position symbol 2 | Unused position | No protected consumer shown in the manufacturer legend |
| Heated mirror symbol | Heated exterior mirrors | Electrical heating for the door mirrors |
| STOP symbol | Brake lamps and cabin electronics | Brake lights and passenger-compartment control module |
| Circled P symbol | Electric parking brake | Parking brake control circuit on equipped vehicles |

| Cabin module symbol | Body module, rear wiper and rear fog lamp | Cabin body control unit, rear wiper and rear fog lighting |
| Trailer symbol | Trailer wiring socket | Towbar electrical circuit, where fitted |
| Crossed-out position symbol 3 | Unused position | Do not add a fuse to an unoccupied position without vehicle documentation |

Megane IV engine compartment fuse and relay protection
Further engine-bay protection supplies engine electronics, starter and other high-current circuits. Access to certain devices may require a trained service technician. A general passenger-compartment icon list is not evidence for a particular under-bonnet position.
The 1.2 TCe petrol and 1.5/1.6 dCi diesel engines, manual and EDC gearboxes, and vehicles with Start-Stop or extra options can differ in fuse allocations. Use the exact model specification before checking those systems.
12 V socket, radio, windscreen washer and brake lamp fuses
Cigarette lighter / 12 V accessory socket: find the cigarette-lighter pictogram on the cover. Depending on equipment it can also describe 12 V sockets accessible to second-row passengers.
Radio and multimedia display: look for the music note or radio icon. Front washer pump: windscreen washer icon. Brake lamps: STOP symbol. Horn: horn pictogram. Heated exterior mirrors: mirror with wavy heat lines.
Also check the fuse-cover symbols for USB, central locking, trailer electrics and the diagnostic connector. A blown fuse should be replaced with the same type and rating as the original, never a higher-current substitute.
Renault Megane IV and other Renault fuse panels
Do not transfer Renault Megane II fuse numbers to the fourth generation. Similarly, the Renault Clio IV uses a different fuse panel legend, and the Renault Clio V has a newer electrical architecture. Neither model’s positions are interchangeable with the Megane IV.
