The Citroen DS3 from 2009-2013 has two main fuse boxes: one below the dashboard and one in the engine compartment next to the battery. In addition to the basic F1-F17 positions, the passenger compartment also contains the FH36-FH40 optional-equipment fuse group. MAXI fuses protecting high-current circuits are located beneath the engine-bay fuse box.
The layout is used on cars with VTi and THP petrol engines as well as diesel engines, so some fuse functions vary with powertrain and equipment. Pay particular attention to FH40 – owner’s manuals from different production periods list either 30 A or 40 A. Do not increase the fuse rating based only on an online table; the rating specified for the actual vehicle is the deciding factor.

Fuse box locations
On left-hand-drive cars, the passenger compartment fuse box is located in the lower left-hand part of the dashboard. To access it, unclip and remove the cover. On right-hand-drive cars, the fuse box is located in the passenger glove box.
The second fuse box is located in the engine compartment, close to the battery on the left-hand side. MAXI protection is also located below the main module. Because these are high-current circuits, the manufacturer recommends that work on MAXI fuses be carried out by a qualified workshop.
Passenger compartment fuse box
The large diagram below shows the fuse box itself rather than an entire owner’s manual page. It clearly shows the basic fuse numbering and the additional FH section.
The DS3 shares some electrical-system solutions with the Citroen C3 from 2009. This also applies to the design of some BSI/BSM modules, but the fuse numbers for the two models should not be used interchangeably without checking the correct table.

FH37 is the correct designation for the unused position – the old version of the article incorrectly showed “FH3”.
For FH40, the documentation is not identical across the whole 2009-2013 production period. One earlier manual lists 30 A, while manuals for later vehicles, including 2011 and 2013, list 40 A. Check the rating assigned to the fuse box in the specific vehicle before replacement. Do not replace a 30 A fuse with a 40 A fuse simply because a later version uses the higher rating.

F9 is the main fuse for the 12 V socket. If the heated rear window and both mirrors stop working, F17 is a good first check because all of these consumers are protected by the same 40 A fuse.
Engine compartment fuse box
The under-hood fuse box is located next to the battery. In addition to engine circuits, it protects the starter, power steering, ABS/ESP, blower, wipers and the individual high- and low-beam headlights.
The large diagram below shows the module itself and makes F1-F21 easy to identify without relying on a small section of a scanned owner’s manual page.

Separate F15-F18 headlight fuses make diagnosis easier: every high- and low-beam headlight has its own position. If only one headlight fails, you can check its fuse without disturbing the remaining lighting circuits.
MAXI fuses
High-current protection is located below the main engine-bay fuse box. Servicing these fuses differs from replacing ordinary F1-F21 fuses.

The old article had incomplete or incorrect MF6 and MF7 values. For this configuration, the documentation gives MF6 as 30 A and MF7 as 80 A.
MAXI fuses protect the main electrical circuits. The manufacturer recommends that MF1-MF8 work be carried out by a dealer or qualified workshop. Do not replace them with fuses of a different rating.
Relays and BSI/BSM modules
The DS3 owner’s manual does not provide one separate R1/R2/R3 relay table for every engine version. Some relays are integrated into the under-hood BSM fuse box and the passenger-compartment BSI module, with configuration depending on engine and equipment.
The tables do, however, identify some relay-related circuits: under-hood F1 includes the main engine-control relay and fan control, passenger-compartment F13 supplies the engine relay module, and FH36, FH40 and F12 are associated with trailer wiring.
