Mercury Sable 2000-2005 spans several electrical revisions, especially between the 2000-2003 and 2004-2005 model years. For that reason the tables below retain every year-dependent row instead of collapsing repeated fuse positions into one simplified entry.
The car uses an engine-compartment power distribution box and a passenger-compartment fuse panel. Depending on year, body style and engine – including Vulcan, Duratec and FFV variants – the same position can carry a different rating or protect a different circuit.

Commonly checked fuses
- Fuel pump: engine-compartment position 16 – 20 A plus relay 30; 2002-2003 also use the cabin position 25 control circuit.
- Cigarette lighter: engine position 18 – 20 A on 2001-2003 cars; cabin position 29 – 20 A on 2004-2005 cars. Earlier 2000-2003 cabin layouts also list position 13 – 20 A for the lighter.
- OBD-II: cabin position 30 – 15 A on 2000-2003, and position 38 – 15 A on 2004-2005.
- ABS: engine position 13 – 40 A for the pump and position 15 – 20 A for the valve-solenoid circuit.
- Front wiper: cabin position 15 – 30 A on 2000-2003; position 23 – 30 A on 2004-2005.

FAQ – Mercury Sable 2000-2005 fuses
Why does the same fuse position appear more than once?
Mercury changed several ratings and assignments during production. Repeated rows represent different model-year or engine variants and are intentionally preserved.
Where is the OBD-II fuse?
For 2000-2003, check cabin position 30 – 15 A. For 2004-2005, check position 38 – 15 A.
Where is the fuel-pump relay?
The engine-compartment relay is position 30. The protected fuel-pump circuit is associated with engine position 16 – 20 A.
Can I use the 2004-2005 table values for a 2001 Sable?
No. Several headlamp, cooling-fan, lighter, wiper and body-control assignments changed between the earlier and later years.
