Peugeot 206 (2000-2002) – Fuse Box Diagrams and Ratings

The Peugeot 206 (2000-2002) has two principal fuse box locations: in the engine compartment near the 12 V battery and inside the cabin below the driver’s dashboard. Main MAXI fuses protect high-current systems including ABS and the Body Systems Interface (BSI). This guide preserves 41 documented entries across engine-bay, MAXI and cabin fuse tables.

The reference follows the June 2002 Peugeot 206 handbook, with clearly marked differences in certain earlier 2000-2002 arrangements. Equipment and engine options including 1.1, 1.4, 1.6 and diesel variants can alter which sockets are occupied. Use the fuse label for your exact vehicle and avoid transferring assignments from the later 2003-2010 model.

Where are the Peugeot 206 fuse boxes?

Engine compartment: beside the battery beneath a clipped plastic lid. Switch off ignition before opening it; this panel contains engine control, fuel, headlights, washer and cooling supplies.

Passenger compartment: behind the lower dashboard cover on the driver’s side. Release the quarter-turn fastener (a coin can be used), then check the inside lid label. Peugeot fitted a fuse puller and spare fuses on the reverse of the cover for some versions.

These 17 described positions come from the 2002 reference. The illustration is a larger version of the original distribution drawing. Position 7 requires care: the June 2002 guide marks it unused, but some earlier configurations assign a 20 A headlamp washer pump. Do not insert a fuse based on a different year.

Peugeot 206 – MAXI high-current fuses MF1-MF8

These eight numbered high-current positions protect the cooling fan, ABS/ESP, BSI body module and main ignition supply. They are distinct from cabin positions and should not be replaced with normal mini blade fuses. Certain high-current circuits require workshop attention.

Position Rating [A] / type Protected circuit / function
MF1 20 Engine cooling fan
MF2 60 Main ABS/ESP electrical supply
MF3 30 Secondary ABS/ESP feed
MF4 70 Body Systems Interface (BSI) power supply
MF5 70 Second BSI power feed
MF6 – Unused position
MF7 30 Ignition switch supply
MF8 – Unused position

Peugeot 206 2000-2002 – passenger compartment fuse box

The manufacturer lists the installed cabin positions rather than every possible empty slot. Cabin position 22 (30 A) supplies interior lighting, the cigarette lighter and, in Peugeot 206 SW estates, the rear 12 V socket. The S1 PARC jumper is a power-configuration bridge rather than a conventional replaceable fuse.

Cigarette lighter, dipped beam, radio, wipers and heated rear window

Cigarette lighter or 12 V socket: inspect cabin position 22 (30 A). A shorted socket or charger can blow a replacement fuse.

Dipped-beam headlights: engine-bay position 9 (15 A) on the left and 10 (15 A) on the right. High beams use positions 11 (10 A) left and 12 (15 A) right in the referenced chart.

Front wipers: engine-bay position 17 (30 A) supplies high/low speed. Cabin position 12 (30 A) additionally protects wiper controls and optional sunroof circuits. Rear wiper: cabin 11 (15 A).

Radio and displays: check cabin 4 (20 A), 6 (10 A) and 15 (15 A), according to the fitted radio and navigation version. Heated rear glass: cabin 10 (40 A). Fuel pump and EVAP: engine 2 (15 A) on applicable petrol cars.

Peugeot 206 fuse layout differences

Changes between early and later 206 production are particularly relevant for engine-bay fuse 7. The later Peugeot 207 and second-generation Peugeot 208 use different electrical systems. For comparison only, see the Peugeot 208 II fuse box diagrams and Peugeot 2008 II fuse guide, but never transfer their fuse numbers to the 206.

Peugeot 206 2000-2002 fuse box FAQ

Where is the cigarette lighter fuse?

Cabin fuse 22 (30 A) in the referenced 2000-2002 layout.

Which fuses protect the low-beam headlights?

Under the bonnet, number 9 (15 A) is the left dipped beam and number 10 (15 A) is the right dipped beam.

Is position 7 always a 20 A fuse?

No. It is unused in the June 2002 handbook, while some earlier arrangements use it for headlamp washers at 20 A.

Is S1 a fuse?

No. S1 is a PARC power configuration jumper and should not be treated as a regular fuse.

Use the correct fuse type and amperage specified for your particular 206. Do not substitute a higher rating when a fuse blows repeatedly.
