Skoda Octavia I / Tour (1U, 1996-2010) is the first-generation Octavia, offered as a liftback and estate and sold as the Tour on some markets until 2010. This diagram documents a 44-position dashboard fuse panel, five relay functions and a separate eight-position high-current battery fuse holder. Engine and equipment differences can alter individual circuits.
The source’s complete 57 rows across three tables and seven original diagrams are preserved. Because the first generation spans many years, the owner’s manual and installed fuse-cover legend should be used to confirm the exact ratings and relay population before service.
Where are the Octavia I fuse boxes?
Dashboard: behind the removable side cover at the driver’s side, visible with the driver’s door open. The under-dash relay carrier is behind lower trim. Engine compartment: the additional high-current fuse block is positioned directly above the 12 V battery; it protects the alternator, ABS, cooling fans and diesel glow-plug system.

Octavia I dashboard relay locations, 1-5
The lower dashboard holder contains relays for horn, power changeover, lighting, fuel pump and windscreen wipers. Relay presence can vary with equipment and engine; some vehicles include an additional upper relay carrier.

| Relay position | Function |
|---|---|
| 1 | Horn relay |
| 2 | Power supply changeover relay |
| 3 | Lighting circuit relay/control |
| 4 | Fuel pump relay |
| 5 | Windscreen wiper controller / intermittent operation |
Octavia I battery-top high-current fuse block 1-8
This engine-bay module provides the main supplies. Alternator: fuse 1 (110 or 150 A) depending on the version. Cabin main power: fuse 2 (110 A). Radiator cooling fans: fuses 3 (40/50 A) and 6 (30 A). Diesel glow plugs: fuse 5 (50 A). ABS: fuses 7 and 8 (30 A each). High-current work requires specialist service procedures.

| Position | Rating [A] | Protected circuit / function |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 110 / 150 A | Alternator main charging circuit, 110 or 150 A by engine and electrical system |
| 2 | 110 A | Main passenger compartment electrical feed |
| 3 | 40 / 50 A | Radiator cooling fan motor, 40 or 50 A |
| 4 | 50 A | Electronic control module supply |
| 5 | 50 A | Diesel engine glow plugs |
| 6 | 30 A | Second radiator cooling fan |

| 8 | 30 A | Additional ABS protection |
Common Octavia I fuse faults
For a faulty 12 V socket, remove chargers and inspect dashboard fuse 41 (15 A), then the socket itself. For a radio fault, check 42 (15 A). For windscreen wiper or washer failure, check 24 (20 A). For fuel delivery problems on relevant petrol vehicles, 28 (15 A) protects the fuel pump; no-start problems may also have causes outside the fuse panel.
The newer generations use different locations and values: Skoda Octavia II 1Z, Skoda Octavia III 5E and Skoda Octavia IV NX. Do not transfer fuse numbers between them.
Skoda Octavia I / Tour fuse box FAQ
Where is the cigarette lighter fuse?
In the driver’s dashboard fuse box, position 41 (15 A).
Which fuse controls the radio?
Position 42 (15 A) in the cabin fuse panel.
Where are the ABS high-current fuses?
At the battery-top fuse holder, positions 7 and 8 (30 A each) in the documented layout.
Can the same diagram be used for every Octavia Tour?
No. The model was sold for many years with different engines and optional equipment. Match the fuse-panel cover and handbook of the specific vehicle.
Use only a factory-specified fuse type and identical ampere rating. A repeatedly blown fuse indicates an electrical fault that must be diagnosed.
