Mercury Montego 2005-2007 was a large sedan closely related to the Ford Five Hundred. Both used Ford’s D3 platform, while AWD versions shared important drivetrain architecture with the Ford Freestyle 2005-2007.
The key electrical distinction is between 2005 and 2006-2007. The cabin Smart Junction Box follows the same basic arrangement, but the under-hood Power Distribution Box was renumbered in several places. The two engine-compartment layouts are therefore kept separate.
Fuse-box locations
Passenger compartment: the Smart Junction Box is below the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel. Engine compartment: the Power Distribution Box contains the high-current fuses and relays.

FAQ – Mercury Montego 2005-2007 fuses
Does the 2005 under-hood layout match 2007?
No. Ford/Mercury changed the numbering from 2006, so the article keeps separate full tables.
Where is the cigarette-lighter fuse?
Cabin F9 – 20 A. It also supplies the DLC / OBD-II connector.
Where is the fuel-pump fuse?
Position 28 – 15 A in 2005, and position 27 – 15 A in 2006-2007.
Can I use a Ford Five Hundred fuse table?
The models are closely related, but individual equipment and assignments can differ. For diagnosis, use the Montego-specific table.
