Volkswagen Golf VII Mk7 5G (2012-2018) – Fuse Box Diagrams

Volkswagen Golf VII Mk7 (5G, 2012-2018) uses three fuse locations: SC inside the cabin, SB under the bonnet and the SA high-current battery block. The original diagrams give specific ratings for an early 2012 configuration. These assignments are not automatically valid on later 2017-2018 facelift, GTI, R, TDI or market-specific cars.

The complete 107 entries in four tables and all original diagrams are reproduced. The source mistakenly labels the 35th dashboard position as SC15, duplicating the existing SC15. The table identifies it as SC35, with this issue explained, and does not invent an additional fuse.

Where are the Golf VII fuse boxes?

Cabin SC: behind the lower driver’s dashboard storage panel, opened by releasing the side clips. Engine SB: in a covered box to the left beside the battery. Battery SA: high-current power distribution at the battery/E-box. Switch off ignition and check the fitted layout before touching any fuse.

Golf VII battery main fuses SA

SA1: 100 A cabin supply. SA2: 100, 200 or 250 A according to alternator power – these are alternate ratings for one position, not three different SA2 fuses. SA3: 80 A electric steering. SA4: 80 A fuse box supply. SA5: 80 A engine cooling fan. High-current servicing requires specialist care.

Golf VII fuse box – practical checks and FAQ

Where is the cigarette lighter fuse?

SC40 (20 A) in the documented early layout. Check the fuse cover on newer cars.

Which fuse feeds the front wipers?

SB19 (30 A).

Where is the rear window wiper fuse?

SC47 (15 A).

Why does the early Golf Mk7 chart mention SC15 twice?

One table transcription has a duplicated label at row 35. This English table identifies the later row as SC35 and explicitly notes the correction.

Are these ratings valid for a 2018 Golf R?

Not necessarily. The source is an early-production diagram and later model-specific electrical versions can differ.

For the previous generation, see Volkswagen Golf V (2003-2009). For separate MQB A0 vehicles compare Polo VI and T-Cross; their fuse numbers must not be interchanged.

Use only the exact manufacturer-specified amperage and fuse type. Never increase the rating to hide a recurring fault.
